Swedish swimmer, Therese Alshammar, has been named the Swimmer of the Year 2010 by the European Swimming Federation.
The 33-year-old athlete who won the Swimming World Cup a few years ago, told the organization's newspaper, "Medals are nice the day you actually win them, but becoming the Swimmer of the Year is great in another way. It's an award that sums up the year that's gone by."
News agency TT reports that Alshammar's 67 championship medals make her Europe's most successful swimmer ever.
The Swedish Radio's sports news claims she could be the big winner in this year's World Cup finals in Stockholm later this week.
